Our Captains and Our Selection Policy

Hi everyone,

We’re pleased to announce the Canberra City Cricket Club Captains for the 2026/27 season.

Congratulations to the following leaders who will be guiding our squads this year:

2nd Grade Black – Damian de Alwis

2nd Grade Purple – Khurram Shahzad

4th Grade – Harish Chakravarthy

5th Grade – Deepak Murali

6th Grade – Nifti Butler

Thank you to all who nominated for putting your hand up to lead this great club.

A quick reminder on registrations: all player registrations must be completed by 15 September. We will be nominating teams by 18 September, so it is essential that registrations are finalised before then.We currently have three teams comfortably and are close to a fourth. If you intend to play this season, please register as soon as possible so we can lock in our numbers and nominate teams with confidence.

We have recently updated our Selection Policy, and we encourage all players to take a moment and read through the changes. The updated policy outlines expectations, selection considerations, communication standards and how we aim to manage squads throughout the season. There is also a short video outlining the key changes for this season.

Keeping everyone informed helps us to maintain transparency, consistency, and a strong club culture as we head into the new season.

Congratulations again to our captains, we look forward to the standards, culture and direction you will all bring within your teams and the club. Looking forward to a great year ahead.

Kind regards,

Brendon Giddings on behalf of the
